Dr. Benham is a nationally-recognized coach educator, most recently serving on the SHAPE-America task force charged with updating the U.S. National Standards for Sport Coaching. Dr. Benham began his career with 20 years of service in sport leadership as a teacher and coach.
He moved on for a16-year stint in higher education working as a coach development specialist at Michigan State University’s Institute for the Study of Youth Sports. As an assistant professor in health and physical education teacher education, he authored coach education modules for Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Coaches Advancement Program and developed courses in “life-skills” for intercollegiate student-athletes.
